My favorite part of the shadow experience was feeling connected to the students and the teachers who made me feel very welcomed. It was nice to see friends from my old school, which made the experience even more relaxed and at home.- 8th grade guest
Padre for a Day
8th Grade Visits
Eighth grade students who are interested in applying to Serra are invited to spend a day on campus to experience a typical day in the life of a Padre. Visits begin at 8:45 a.m. (7:55 a.m. for music students) and conclude at 2:15 p.m.
When you visit Serra, you will be hosted by a current freshman student. He will take you to his classes, introduce you to his teachers and friends, and treat you to lunch. Your day includes a campus tour and an opportunity to meet student leaders and our Admissions team.
The visit will conclude with a question-and-answer wrap-up session at 1:45 p.m. with one of our team members. Parents are strongly encouraged to join us for the wrap-up.

Tours are led by a member of our Admissions team and a current Serra parent. Together, they can help you better understand the admissions process, the Serra community and the life of a Padre.
Each tour, geared to parents and guardians of middle school boys, is limited to 12 guests.

Open House at Serra, one of the premier open house events among Bay Area high schools, is an evening designed to introduce middle schools boys and their families to the Serra community and all its components — academics, activities, athletics and the arts.
Current Padres serve as the evening’s hosts. They will share their Serra experience with you, answer your questions, and lead you on an extensive school tour. Tours not only highlight our facilities but also include classroom and chapel presentations from our teaching faculty, as well as exhibits hosted by student clubs and organizations and parent and alumni organizations. In addition, you will have opportunities to chat one-to-one with administrators, teachers, coaches, staff, and other student representatives. Open House is also a great way to meet other prospective students and their families.
I can appreciate what Serra has to offer because I went to an all-boys Catholic high school, which had a transformative impact on the development of my character that afforded me meaningful relationships and a career as well. My wife and I came out of the Walk-Around-Wednesday convinced Serra High School would be a no-brainer for us should our son get admitted.- parent of a new freshman
