Serra's Back to School Night

Dear Parents,

Please note that Serra's Back to School Night will be on Thursday September 3 beginning at 7:00 PM. This evening is an excellent opportunity for parents to meet with their sons' teachers and learn about their expectations for the coming school year, as well as to reconnect with other parents and learn more about our school program. Students need not attend, as the teacher presentations are oriented towards parents. The full evening program is normally completed by about 9:30 PM.

Unlike many other schools, this evening begins in the Auditorium at 7:00 PM. When driving to campus please enter the campus from the 20^th Avenue entrance opposite Edinburgh; we will have people stationed there to direct you to the parking available on campus.

Please note that we will be on a tight schedule this evening; class presentations will be about 10 minutes in length and will proceed in the order shown below. With this in mind, this is not an evening to have individual conferences with your son's teachers; there will be opportunities for you to do that later in the semester. Rather, it is an informative evening during which you will learn about class and teacher expectations and learn how to make contact with teachers as the year moves forward.

In order to facilitate your locating your son's classes, we will be asking your son to fill in this schedule for his first semester classes and give it to you. If he doesn't volunteer this information on his own, please print out this email and ask him to fill in the schedule below it so that your evening proceeds smoothly:

Important notes:
1. Note that eighth period presentations will begin before 7th period due to the large number of students who have 7th period free for athletics.
2. During 4^th and 5^th periods you are invited to the auditorium to hear a presentation by Mr. Strange where you will receive information about our new school data base program, PCR Educator. At that meeting we will tell you when you should be receiving your new login and password information.
3. During your son's independent study period please visit the exhibits in the gymnasium that have been prepared by the parent organizations and student clubs. Serra gear will be sold in the bookstore throughout the evening until the end of 8^th period.
4. Tri-School classes at Mercy and Notre Dame will not be presented this evening. Tri-School classes at Serra WILL meet.
5. PE classes 3^rd, 6^th, and 8^th period will meet in the Gellert Auditorium.
6. Zero period classes, PE Athletics, and Independent Study classes will not meet this evening.
7. Refreshments will be served in the gymnasium at the end of the evening.
