Dear Serra Parents:

From the Development Office:

Thank you so much for selling your raffle tickets which were sent to you in your auction invitation. There are some amazing raffle prizes, including $7500 cash, a laptop computer and $1000 cash. Some families still have not turned in their tickets. Each student is expected to show his Padre spirit by selling one book of tickets. Please ask your son to turn in his raffle tickets to the Development Office this week. Tickets are still available in the Development Office. Thank you for your support!

From the Principal's Office:

Group Counseling Program at Serra!

The new group-counseling program at Serra High School is designed to meet the needs of all of our students. This year we will offer several groups. Groups will be meeting once a week (TBD). If you feel your son might profit from one of these groups or you would like to learn more about them, please contact your student's counselor.

The two groups that are starting in October are the Stress Management Group and the Family Life-Transision Group.

The groups will be led by Karen M. Ghidossi and Jane G. Zoucha who are currently trainees working under supervision with Renee A. Duffey (License #32522). Karen Ghidossi is currently enrolled in the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program at Santa Clara University and Jane Zoucha is currently enrolled in the MFT program at the University of San Francisco. PCR Educator:

Student Email Addresses in PCR Educator:
One of the features of PCR Educator is the ability to store student email addresses. This is an important feature, as it will make it possible for our teachers to contact their students and send important updates. In order for these email adresses to be stored, parents must input their son's email address through the Student Information section in the PCR Parent Portal. Once your son's email address has been verified, it will appear in the Parent Portal.

Please encourage your son to login daily in order to receive important information from his teachers. Students have separate logins from parents--please do not let your student use your parent account since these accounts have different security rights. If you did not receive your login information please contact Keith Strange: kstrange@serrahs.com

From The Booster Club:

The Booster Club is beginning to plan their annual Crab Cioppino Dinner and Dance which is being held on Saturday, January 23rd. Anyone who is interested in volunteering to help with the event please contact Athletic Director Kevin Donahue at kdonahue@serrahs.com.

From the Athletic Director:

Follow the Padres on Twitter. Can’t make the games or don't have access to a computer to listen to the live broadcasts over the internet? There is now an alternative. You can sign up to follow Padre Athletics on Twitter. Receive scoring updates on several Serra sports and different teams.

Winter sports tryouts begin for all levels on Monday, November 2nd. In order for your son to tryout all forms must be turned on file. The forms are available on the Serra Website. All freshmen already have a physical release form on file. All other students must have a new physical release for the 2009-2010. The Parental Release Form is sport specific and must be filled out for each sport your son is trying out for. The steroid form only needs to be turned in once each year.

From the Auction Committee:

Now is the time to get your tables together for our Annual Benefit Auction, “Serra Rock of Ages,”  being held on Saturday, November 7, 2009.

Send in your reservations or Click here to register online TODAY!
