The Hall of Fame exists to honor graduates who, during their years at Serra, exhibited outstanding athletic achievement or who attained outstanding success at the collegiate or professional levels.  The Hall of Fame also recognizes the contributions of others (coaches, teachers, parents) who, through their tireless efforts, have contributed to the excellence of the Serra athletics program. 

Junípero Serra High School recognizes the contribution of all its athletes throughout its history. The Athletic Hall of Fame is a joint venture between the Alumni Association and the Athletic Department.  It is the mission of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee to induct over a period of time, all deserving athletes as described in the criteria for selection. It is not the intent, nor the mission of the Serra Athletic Hall of Fame to determine the best athlete or athletes in a particular sport or in the general athletic history of the school. The order of induction is not an indication of an athlete’s value or worth as a player or a person.

Criteria for nomination of an athlete:

• The nominee must be out of high school for ten (10) years;
• The nominee must have graduated from Junipero Serra High School;
• Each nominee must have made a significant achievement in his sport. This may have taken place at the high school, collegiate, professional or amateur level;
• The accomplishment may or may not be in a sport sponsored by the Athletic Department of Junipero Serra High School;
• The number of inductees should be limited to no more than five (5) at a time. In case of a tie, more can be considered but only in extreme cases;
• Each nominee must exemplify the principles of sportsmanship and Christianity as expounded in the philosophy and mission of Junipero Serra High School.

Criteria for nomination of a team:

Criteria is based on the team having attained a high level of success (including but not limited to league, section or state championship), or enhancing the reputation of Junipero Serra High School and its Athletic Department.

Criteria for nomination of individuals other than athletes:

• Head varsity coaches must have been employed by Junipero Serra High School for a minimum of seven (7) years;
• Athletic Administrators must have been in position for a minimum of ten (10) years;
• Special Category – can encompass many different areas. The recipient must have made a significant contribution to the athletic department over an extended period of time;
• Candidates cannot be currently employed at the position they are being nominated for.
