The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and implementing strategic opportunities to engage and celebrate Junipero Serra’s alumni across all class years. We are seeking a creative and collaborative professional to lead us in deepening our engagement with the JSHS alumni community. This includes planning and executing all annual alumni giving campaigns, which include the Padre Fund, ThanksGiveDay and Reunion Giving, coordinating the undertakings of the Junipero Serra High School Alumni Association and working with the members of the Advancement Department. This position reports directly to the Chief Advancement Officer.

Primary Responsibilities of the Director of Alumni Relations include:
Fundraising and Community Building
  • Developing JSHS alumni communication and cultivation strategies
  • Management of alumni board
  • Manage budget for alumni department
  • Coordinating annual Reunion Gift Campaigns
  • Coordinating annual Career Day event
  • Coordinate alumni speaker series
  • Manage volunteers for all alumni activities
Management of JSHS Alumni Online Presence
  • Maintaining Alumni Database and updates to the JSHS alumni web page (AlmaBase)
  • Conducting regular correspondence with JSHS Alumni
  • Managing the Alumni Online Community (AlmaBase)
  • Creating content for the JSHS Alumni Facebook and Instagram social media pages
  • Archiving school photos and documents to support the preservation of JSHS school history
  • Promote internships and employment opportunities with Padre alums
  • Managing and implementing branding strategies for alumni outreach 
Planning Special JSHS Alumni Events
  • Annual Alumni Legacy Mass
  • Class Reunions and Alumni Weekend
  • Monthly Alumni Board Meetings
  • Alumni Games: Football, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Water Polo
  • In Via and Junipero Serra Awards
  • Athletic Hall of Fame Recognition Dinner (every two years)
  • Alumni Senior Lunch and New Alumni Online Community Day
  • Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament
  • Alumni Regional Events
Coordinating Publications Submissions
  • Gathering alumni news contributions to Traditions Magazine and Annual Report
  • Coordinating the production of annual JSHS promotion videos
  • Write and submit monthly alumni newsletter content that highlights JSHS alumni
  • Write and submit alumni obituaries and maintain RIP list for Traditions and Serra memorial book
  • Planning video conferencing and recording opportunities with alumni of all age levels
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Proficiency with web-based collaboration tools (Google Workspace, etc.) social media systems (LinkedIn, Facebook, instagram, twitter, etc.) video conferencing tools (Zoom, Meet, Teams, etc.), office and database systems and simple video editing are all essential.
  • Strong knowledge of alumni engagement and stewardship strategies
  • Experience and success in building trusted relationships and networking
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support volunteers, team members and student assistants
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communications and project management skills, marketing and communication
  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills. Strong detail orientation
