It was a morning of reflection and connection for the Serra Padre freshman and their moms. More than 250 people attended an early morning Mother-Son Mass in the Gellert Auditorium today to worship together and give thanks for the special bond between mother and son.
Father Michael Liliedahl celebrated the Mass, relaying a treasured childhood storyabout his incredible relationship with his mother.
Freshman Malachi Gastrock read a reflection, highlighting the special bond he shares with his mom.
"As we all know, our moms do a lot for us," Gastrock said. "They help provide food for us, clothes for us, give us shelter, love us, and most of all, help shape us into fine young men."
He said he was happy to be at the Mass to share and reflect on the relationship between a mother and son and the significance of this relationship.
"Let us all be reminded and appreciative for all that our moms do for us in our lives," Gastrock said. "Let's be thankful for the special relationships we have with our moms."
Moms and sons enjoyed a breakfast reception in Mary's Courtyard following the Mass.
"I am so happy I attended the Mother-Son Mass with my son, Gavin," said Maricar Curley from San Carlos. "It was a special time together with our friends and other moms in the Serra community. I was great listening to Father Liliedahl and Malachi's special recollections, as my son and I can both relate."
