Juniors, Seniors Receive Rings During Blessing of the Rings Mass

More than 80 juniors, seniors and supportive family members packed the Serra Chapel this morning for the annual Blessing of the Rings Mass, celebrated by Father Michael Mahoney.

Serra class rings symbolize a remarkable achievement in the life of each student and mark the beginning of a new stage in his school experience, according to Serra Principal Charles McGrath.

"This is a very special mass for our students, as it symbolizes their transition into the leadership of our school community," McGrath said.

The early morning mass fell on the same day as the Feast of Saint Nicholas, making today extremely special. Serra Mission and Brotherhood Director Zach Lantz said today's ceremony was well attended, with nearly 40 rings blessed.

"It was a beautiful mass with Father Mahoney, and it was a solemn ceremony to receive and bless the rings," he said.

Lantz called the boys to the front to receive their rings, and then each student was photographed with the principal to commemorate the experience.
