Many Good Things To Come at Serra in 2020

Welcome, 2020! Not only is 2020 a new year but 20/20 also indicates perfect vision -- and we clearly see this next semester as one that will have something in store for everyone here at Serra.

It's only a few days into January and we are already embracing a huge victory for our varsity basketball team in a four-game tournament at Marin Catholic during the break. On Saturday, January 4, our Padres battled Riordan for a 50-48 victory -- an amazing West Catholic Athletic League season opener for Serra. We are anxiously awaiting the January 7 Jungle Game against St. Ignatius at Serra. Hats off to this year's varsity basketball team!

January 6 is a very special day for Serra. It marks the final admission application deadline for our Class of 2024. We are very excited to welcome a new pool of Padres into our brotherhood.

February will bring with it possibly the largest group of alumni back to school to celebrate at our annual 50-year luncheon on February 7. Also in February, many students will experience their service retreats.

Our annual Fund A Dream event, in which we have raised $4 million in total for tuition assistance for our students at Serra will take place on March 14, 2020. We are so happy to have as our keynote speaker, Father Joe Bradley '73, Serra's very own chaplain and author of "The Four Gifts." His honest, yet thought-provoking memoir expresses Father Joe's gratitude for his journey from addiction to priesthood, with the blessing of four gifts: faith, sobriety, a new heart, and a fulfilling ministry.

Mark your calendars for March 27, the opening night of this year's Tri-School Spring Musical, 42nd Street. Performances run through April 4.

There is much, much more to come this semester. It sure is a good time to be a Padre!
