It was a memorable morning on September 21, when current Padres honored their alumni fathers and grandfathers during the Father-Son Mass.
"It was a great turnout - we had 100 Padres," said Alumni Director Bob Greene '85. "In the senior class alone, there are 27 Padres who have alumni dads and grandfathers. I'm thankful to our alumni who keep coming back. The Alumni Father-Son Mass is always special, and it's wonderful to catch up with our Padres from the various decades."
Greene spoke about the spiritual bond that transcends generations. He also cited two recent examples of the Serra brotherhood.
Will Malone was joined by his father, Tony Malone '80, and his grandpa, Terry Giomi '64. Will's other Padre family members include his uncle, Pat Malone '86, and his late grandfather, William Malone '55.
"I can see how being a Serra Padre has affected the lives of the men in my family," Will said. "They all have positive relationships with people and strong family ties. They stick together through good times and the tough times."
"This is the last Alumni-Father Son Mass before Will graduates," Terry noted. "I'm so proud he went to Serra."
It's all relative: Matthew Fadelli '21 and Nino Houle '22 enjoyed spending time with their family members.
