Under sunny skies, Tri-School students from Serra, Mercy and Notre Dame raised money for Catholic Worker House in San Bruno on September 22. The students met at Mercy, Burlingame, and walked 4.5 miles to Catholic Worker House in San Bruno.
"The walk raised awareness about the struggles that people face, especially those without roofs over their heads or without meals every day," said senior Charles Cody.
After meeting early in the morning icebreakers, students listened to speeches about the Catholic Worker Movement, which was started by Dorothy Day in 1933. Serra students raised $349 for the worthy cause.
According to junior Brian Guevara, "It was fun because we had a chance to socialize with others, while walking to end hunger and poverty and to help people in need."
