Activities

Throughout the first few weeks of school, there will be several athletic events, dances and socials for income freshman to attend.
The first social activity will be held on Serra's campus. It is a Tri-School activity and students will have the opportunity to meet Mercy and Notre Dame students.
- Frosh Orientation: Thursday, August 15, 9:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
- Frosh Splash at Serra: Friday, August 23, 3:30-5 p.m.
- Frosh Social at Notre Dame, Belmont: Friday, August 30 from 6:30-9 p.m.
- Frosh speeches and elections: Friday, October 18

Athletics
General Questions - Justin Ferdinand
- Summer athletics information can be found here. If you are interested in participating in cross country, football or water polo, please complete the form linked at the top of the summer athletics information page.
- The contact list of the head coaches of each program can be found on our athletics website. Students are encouraged to reach out to the head coach of the programs that they are interested in or have questions about.
- Our Athletic Clearance Process will open on May 15, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. CIF requires that all athletes trying out and participating in a sport have a current physical on file with the school. Physicals are good for one calendar year.
- Athletes are required to upload their physical exam form to the Athletic Clearance website. Please be sure to select the correct school year (2024-2025) and select Junípero Serra/San Mateo as the school. Next, create an account and complete all the steps by June 30. All physical forms must be signed by a doctor and can be either uploaded to your online account or emailed to Athletics Director Justin Ferdinand. All athletes who are participating in summer training need to complete this process before they being working out.

Christian Service
- The requirement for all freshmen is 10 hours of direct service. You can begin accruing volunteer hours toward the requirement on June 2, 2024.
- Get a jump start on your required service hours through our summer Christian Service class. This is a summer enrichment class.
- Learn more about our Christian Service requirement and find local agencies to volunteer here.
Camino de Padres Freshman Retreat
- All freshmen will participate in the retreat on Saturday, August 17. This is a mandatory event.
Freshman Day of Service
- The whole freshman class will come together on October 2 to learn about Catholic and social teaching. The day will finish up with students packing hygiene kits, which will be donated to the Kino Border Initiative in Nogales, AZ.

Theater Program Information Meeting
Interested in theater?
Whether performing onstage, building and painting sets, or working backstage with our professional designers, there are dozens of ways to get involved in our Tri-School Program that includes over 200 students per year. Come learn about all of the ways to get involved and get all of your questions answered by Lawrence Long, the Artistic Director of Tri-School Productions. Our virtual information meeting will be held on Thursday, August 3 at 6 p.m. Log in here to Mr. Long's Google Meets Room to sign up.
Fall Play
Tri-School Productions brings the cult classic film Clue to the stage this fall. Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out WHO did it, WHERE and with WHAT?
