Homecoming Week is an important tradition at Serra, with activities planned for students and alumni. Traditionally, the week includes the presentation of the Junípero Serra Award at a student body mass.
The Homecoming football game is held on Friday night or Saturday afternoon, and the Alumni Board hosts a barbecue for alumni and their families, as well as their tri-school friends.
One or more class reunions are typically held during homecoming week, where Padres reunite and reminisce with their former classmates.

We are proud of the number of students who are following in their dads' footsteps by attending Serra. Each September, we hold our Annual Father & Son Mass where Padre fathers, grandfathers and sons get together to celebrate Padres of the past and future.
The Mass exemplifies Serra's tradition of building men of faith, wisdom, service, community and leadership. As a tradition during Mass, fathers and their sons place candles in a galvanized tub. By the end of the Mass, the candles melt together to signify unity.
The 50-Year Club luncheon is held every January at Serra. It is a perfect opportunity for Padres who graduated 50 years ago or more to reminisce about their grand high school days at Serra. These special alumni enjoy a delicious catered lunch, refreshing beverages and good old-fashioned conversation.
Established in 1982, the Junípero Serra Award is Serra High School's highest alumni honor. The Serra Alumni Association presents the Junípero Serra Medal to an alumnus who exemplifies the ideals, goals and objectives of Catholic education as expressed in our school philosophy and as taught at Serra High School. This means being open to the experience of the Word of God, participating in the community, and making a difference in the lives of others.
The Alumni Award of Merit was established by the Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2002 and first awarded in September 2003. It was created to honor alumni who have distinguished themselves through accomplishments in their professional fields and who have brought honor and distinction to Serra High School. Awards are given in the areas of the arts, business, public affairs, and science and technology.
The Serra Golf Classic was established in 1988 and is run by the Alumni Association. Each year during the month of June, 144 golfers gather at Peninsula Golf and Country Club in San Mateo to battle for the much coveted tournament championship.
The Serra Golf Classic is the primary funding source for the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. It provides vital financial assistance to deserving young men who seek a Serra education.
The alumni games are held in the spring and in the fall. They are a competitive and fun way to reconnect with past and present Padres. The spring games are held in March and include baseball, lacrosse and volleyball. The fall games are held in November and include basketball, soccer, water polo and wrestling.
The Junípero Serra Alumni Association sponsors Alumni Career Day every two years. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from distinguished alumni professionals about different career paths. More than 40 Padre alums typically participate and recount their high school days at Serra, while sharing how various experiences influenced their career decisions.
Honoring Padres Who Have Served
"Men of Faith, Wisdom, and Service"
In 2006, Serra—through the leadership of Christian Clifford '89 (USN MS3-SS), a member of our Theology and Social Studies Departments—began the process of accumulating names of Padres who have served honorably in the United States armed forces. To pay respect and tribute to these men of "Faith, Wisdom, and Service," their names have been added to a beautiful plaque that is displayed on the wall outside of the Serra alumni office.
If your are a Serra alumnus who has served and your name is not on the list, please click here.
The Serra Advancement office keeps track of Padres who have earned Eagle Scout Awards. Just outside the Advancement Office, a special wall plaque lists the names of our Serra Eagle Scouts. This plaque is updated every three years.
Click here for the most up-to-date list we have on record for our Padre Eagle Scouts. If you have earned your Eagle Scout Award and your name is not on the list, please click here to complete the online Padre Eagle Scout form.
If you have any questions, please contact Antonia Ehlers.
The Athletic Hall of Fame, initiated in 1990, is a joint venture of the Junípero Serra High School Athletics Department and the Serra Alumni Association. The Hall of Fame exists to honor graduates who, during their years at Serra, exhibited outstanding athletic achievement or who attained outstanding success at the collegiate or professional levels. The Hall of Fame induction dinner is held every other year during Homecoming Week.
