Emergency Protocol
During Home Athletic Events

Includes: games, practices and tournaments

During athletic events, the following emergency procedures should be carefully followed in order to safely evacuate all spectators and participants per location:

A. Gymnasium:

Fire - Immediately vacate the bleachers in an orderly fashion. The announcer may provide instructions and use south exit doors only in order to exit to the blacktop parking lot/ football field. Do not use exits towards the main school building in case of fire. All spectators must exit towards the blacktop.

Weather related issues (i.e. lightning, weather, heat and humidity)- Immediately vacate the bleachers in an orderly fashion. The announcer may provide instructions and use exit doors nearest to your half of the court and exit to either the blacktop parking lot or Mary’s courtyard.

Medical/catastrophic injuries on field/court and in the crowd - Follow instructions given by our announcer and stay in seats in order to clear the way for the injured parties unless otherwise instructed. Once clear, use exit doors nearest to your half of the court and exit to either the blacktop parking lot or Mary’s courtyard.

Facility problems (i.e. loss of power, collapse)- Immediately vacate the bleachers in an orderly fashion. The announcer may provide instructions and use exit doors nearest to your half of the court and exit to either the blacktop parking lot or Mary’s courtyard.

Earthquakes - Stay in your seat and protect your head and neck with your arms. Do not try to leave until the shaking has stopped. Use south exit doors only in order to exit to the blacktop parking lot/ football field and walk out slowly watching for anything that could fall during possible aftershocks. Do not use exits towards the main school building in case of building collapse.

B. Football Field:

Fire - Immediately vacate the bleachers in an orderly fashion. The announcer may provide instructions and use the closest exit from the bleachers (either right or left side) to exit to 20th Ave. or 22nd Ave.

Weather related issues (i.e. lightning, weather, heat and humidity) - Immediately vacate the bleachers in an orderly fashion. The announcer may provide instructions and use the closest exit from the bleachers (either right or left side) to exit to 20th Ave. or 22nd Ave.

The announcer may provide instructions and use the closest exit (either main entrance to pool in Alumni plaza or exit through Mural Alley) to exit to blacktop parking lot or 20th Ave.
