Nano Latu didn’t know he was leading his Serra Padres to a win that would be cemented in program history.
The senior running back realized something was up when he saw the assistant coaches huddling around the water coolers, conspiring to give head coach Patrick Walsh a celebratory postgame Gatorade shower. That’s when Latu started to ask around the sideline and discovered the 47-6 victory Friday night at Bellarmine-San Jose would stand as Walsh’s 200th career victory.
Latu has earned Daily Journal Athlete of the Week honors because he left a big mark on the benchmark win, carrying 12 times for 151 yards and four touchdowns.
