Serra Crew Qualifies For Nationals

The Serra Crew Team qualified two boats to attend Scholastic Nationals in New Jersey this year. At the South Coast Scholastic Championship, both the JV 4+ and Lightweight 4+ placed first in the open water competition qualifying them for nationals at the end of May. Only schools with crew teams are allowed to attend this scholastic event. Last year 137 schools attended nationals, all fighting hard to be the fastest crew on the water. Serra brought two boats in 2023- the Frosh 8+ and the JV 4+.

With a young team, the boys are eager to put their best effort forward to see what they’re capable of. The team has grown to 44 athletes that not only perform athletically, but academically as well. The crew team currently maintains a 3.81 weighted / 3.46 unweighted GPA. Three outstanding student athletes have a perfect 4.0 unweighted GPA. This speaks volumes to the amount of work these young men put in while adhering to higher standards. We are so proud of these Padres!

Members of the travel team Lightweight 4+ are Jaiden Wright (Coxswain), Matthew Wylie (Stroke), Robert Thai, Dylan Richardson and Charles Deal (Bow). Members of the JV 4+ are Owen Dash (Coxswain), Lyon McLaughlin (Stroke), Henry Allison, Peter Ward and Jack Palladino (Bow).
