On Wednesday, the Padres closed out their dual meet season with a win over Valley Christian. Chris Yoon led off the Padres to a win in the 4x100m relay (Yoon, Jeo Henley, Jusiah Vinson, Green) with a time of 42.44. Yoon also won the 110HH (15.65) and the long jump (21-4). Luke Lewis had the top throw in discus (144-11) and led a Padre sweep in the shot put (57-4.5; Jay Leder - 51-7.5; Taniela Folau - 45-3).
The frosh-soph team also defeated Valley Christian with a large number of Padres contributing to the point total.
On Saturday, a select group of Padres traveled to Los Gatos High School for the CCS Top 8 Invitational. Green eclipsed Nate Harvey's '10 school record in the 100m with his win legal time of 10.68. The time moves Green up to third in the CCS on the year. He also anchored the 4x100m relay team (along with Yoon, Henley and Vinson) to third place (42.31), just .01 off their best time of the season. Yoon finished sixth in the 110HH. Henley ran a great time for a freshman in the 400m, finishing seventh overall in 49.51. Lewis won the shot put (55-5.25) and was sixth in the discus (142-6).
Other members of the team traveled to Dublin High School for the Nor Cal Frosh-Soph Championships Invitational. Tevita Heimuli added his name to the list of shot putters to eclipse the 50' barrier with the 10-pound shot put, winning the event with his distance of 52-6. Heimuli also won the discus (126-3). Peyton Thomas was fourth in discus (122-9) and sixth in shot put, just behind Jaden Halai in fifth. The 4x800m relay team of Andrew Little, Malik Osman, Alonso Ruiz-Moye and Joey Bronzini crossed the line in second place (8:56.01), bettering their time from earlier in the year. Julien Knapp jumped 5-8 in high jump to place second. With a number of other solid performances, the team finished third overall.
The Padres are back competing on Saturday at St. Francis for the WCAL Trials. Events begin at 9 a.m.
