WCAL Announces its 2023 Football Players of the Year

The Western Catholic Athletic League has announced its 2023 Football Players of the Year and numerous members of the Serra Padres Varsity team have made the list.

The West Catholic Athletic League, or WCAL, is a highly competitive high school athletic conference in the Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. Serra’s division is made up of seven Catholic schools and one nondenominational Christian school in the western and southern portions of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Varsity Head Coach Patrick Walsh likened this experience to a wolf pack, stating, “Rudyard Kipling in Jungle Book once wrote, ‘For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack,’” Walsh noted. “It is great to see our Padre “wolves” celebrated and recognized by the WCAL coaches. All of our Padres represented in the WCAL 2023 Player of the Year Awards are deserving and all contributed to being one of the best Padre Teams in Serra History,” Walsh said.
