Serra Football To Play in State Championships on December 11

The Serra High School Varsity Football Team is heading to Southern California to compete in the State Championships against the Mater Dei Monarchs, it was announced by the California Interscholastic Federation today. The game will take place on December 11 at 8 p.m. at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.

Serra will compete in the Open Division against Mater Dei High School a private, Catholic school in Santa Ana.

"This is the absolute pinnacle of high school football," Serra Athletic Director Justin Ferdinand said today following the midday announcement. "You cannot get on a bigger stage than this," he added.

The Mater Dei Monarchs football team is rated No. 1 in the country by MaxPreps.
