Junipero Serra High School is a Catholic college preparatory for boys in San Mateo County. Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the senior management team, the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing the marketing and communication vision for Junipero Serra’s brand which promotes its unique position in the marketplace.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing and communications program that will enhance Junipero Serra’s image and position within the marketplace.

  • Managing and coordinating the strategic and creative design of Junipero Serra’s marketing and communications activities and materials including: enrollment management, website and digital media, athletics, institutional advancement, media relations and the president’s and principal’s offices. 

  • Manage the Marketing and Communications staff – currently consisting of a Creative Manager and Web Administrator, Digital Marketing & Social Media Manager.

  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all school publications, including Traditions magazine (bi-annual).

  • Uphold protocol to ensure a uniform “brand identity standards” in all departments and communications and coordinate the appearance of all school print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, and clothing.

  • Serve as the crisis communications manager. 

  • Coordinate all public and media relations.

  • Support all departments in their marketing and communications, and oversee the development of support materials and services.

  • Oversee and execute market research and monitor trends.

  • Leads special projects, includings: events, development, capital campaign communications.

  • Develop, monitor and benchmark effectiveness of marketing and communications budget.

Qualifications:
  • Desire to support the mission of Junipero Serra High School.

  • Exceptional oral, written and graphic communication skills.

  • Skilled in collaboration with administrators, faculty, parents, and students.

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing and communications activities - including branding, email, SEO, SEM, content marketing, social media, advertising.

  • Excellent organization, communication and customer service skills.

  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications, website management, and social media content creation and management.

  • Proficiency in google docs, database management and page layout including experience with Adobe Creative Suites and MS Office product and other general purpose tools (Acrobat, FTP, multiple Internet browsers, etc.)

  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to blend creativity and high functionality in the design and execution of projects.

  • Ability to work independently and responsibly while managing multiple projects.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the education or not-for-profit sector.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism and/or public relations preferred. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable.
