About the position:

The Executive Assistant / HR Manager supports the work of the school administration of Junipero Serra High School in order to achieve the fullest attainment of the school’s unique Catholic mission: educating men of faith, wisdom, service, community and leadership. The Executive Assistant / HR Manager is responsible for a wide range of administrative duties in direct executive-level support of the Office of the Principal including many confidential and time-sensitive matters.  This position is also responsible for all aspects of the Human Resources function at Junípero Serra High School.

Responsibilities:
  • Upholds and models a moral code which is consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the mission of the school
  • Remains aware of and represents the religious aims and objectives of the school to constituents
Executive Assistant
  • Provides direct assistance to the Principal to help organize the work of the Principal’s office:
    • Manages the Principal’s calendar, appointments and logistics
    • Prepares correspondence and other communications as needed
    • Filing and information management
  • Meets weekly with the Principal to coordinate weekly agenda
  • Serves as a liaison with students and parents to the Principal
  • Manages all aspects of the annual graduation ceremony
  • Coordinates employee events
  • Prepares and distributes agenda for weekly meetings of the Principals’ Leadership Team; transcribes and distributes minutes
  • Organizes bi-annual Serra neighborhood meetings with the President and Principal
  • Supervises the Front Office Staff, manages and oversees the attendance function
  • Convenes regular Principal’s Office staff meetings
  • Coordinates statistical reporting to the Archdiocesan Department of Schools
Human Resources Manager
  • Responsible for administration of employee benefit programs (health insurance, life insurance, 403B retirement accounts, Archdiocesan Pension Plan)
  • Supports employee relations, personnel issues, recruitment, onboarding of new personnel, HR compliance and professional development
  • Oversees performance review process
  • Handles confidential and time-sensitive tasks for the Principal exercising professional discretion, including, contracts and evaluation process.
  • Processes Workers’ Compensation claims
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of three years experience supporting senior executives
  • Minimum of three years of relevant human resources experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; pleasant and warm demeanor
  • Professionalism and ability to keep confidences
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with organizational, time-management and prioritization skills
  • Effective decision making skills with a detail-oriented, flexible, strong work ethic
  • Strong working relationships/partnerships and team-building with peers and others
Accountability:

Reports to the Principal of the school; VP of Finance in the administration of the Human Resources function)

Hours:
  • Full-time, 12 months, exempt, salaried
  • Regular hours: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with one hour lunch period)
  • Additional evening, irregular and after hours work are required
Salary Range:

Annual Salary - $80,000 to $90,000
