Design Thinking and 2D-3D Art
EXPRESS YOURSELF! 2D/3D ART AND TECH TOOLBOX (OPEN TO RISING 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS)

Young artists will explore 2D and 3D art—drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture—inspired by the resources and creative ambiance of Serra’s art studios. Under the guidance of a professional artist credentialed in Art and Technology, students will gain experience in a variety of artistic skills and techniques and expand their art vocabulary and art history knowledge.
Tech Toolbox is a passion-based course that will guide students as they engage in innovative thinking and inventiveness using free Web 2.0 tools, developing educational technology skills that apply to all learning environments. These skills will include utilizing Google’s suite of tools, screen casting and storyboard creation, and video production. Specific focus on research, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking will enhance an exploration into both the students’ inner genius and what it means to be responsible digital citizens.
Each class meets daily for one hour and fifteen minutes, with a fifteen minute break between classes. Consider coupling the Express Yourself! workshops with Series 7 or Series 8 in the morning session (see details above) for a full day of brain expanding, hands-on learning at Serra this summer!
