Graduation Events and Celebrations

Congratulations seniors!

We understand how different graduation is this year and we know how challenging this can be for all of you. However, we want you to know that this important milestone in your life isn't any less meaningful. While a tremendous transition, graduation has always been a time of deep reflection about where we are and where we are headed. The reflection of this year will define our lives.

Let us own it, and let us have that reflection empower us to dive deeper into what it means to be a Padre -- now, and forever.

Graduation Day | virtual commencement

Graduation will take place virtually on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m.  We hope that despite the changes to the ceremony, it will still capture the spirit of brotherhood and celebrate the amazing successes of your sons. We are so proud of our graduates and look forward to a time in the future when we can celebrate with them in person.

conferral of diplomas: time tbd

The health order of May 11 allows Serra to have graduates and their families to drive to Serra for conferral of diplomas. We have to submit a detailed site and safety plan to the health officer for review.  When approved, we will communicate the details to you via email and post it on our graduation site. In summary, following the virtual graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 30, we will ask the graduate and his family to drive in one car to Serra at a specific time to receive his diploma. Students are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns. The graduate will be allowed to exit the car to receive his diploma. A professional photographer will be there to take a picture of each graduate. The health officer is requesting specific guidelines including that all students wear masks and gloves when  picking up their diploma.

in person celebration: tbd

We are committing to the Class of 2020, to the parents, to the teachers, and to the community, to celebrate graduation in person together at a future date when we are allowed to do so. We look forward to coming together to celebrate this incredible milestone.

Senior Journeys . . . The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.

Armed with faith, skills, leadership and critical thinking, Serra's teachers and counselors help to guide our Padres in the right direction. However, each student makes the journey their own by adding to it what they want. The real stories are those of perseverance, humility, commitment, mindfulness . . .

Below are just a few of the journeys that some of our seniors have experienced at Serra. You might be surprised to learn that many of them happened outside the classroom and off the field.
