Andrew Rush will never forget Serra for the countless lunch table discussions, the team bus rides, Friday Night Lights, and the Jungle Game.
“I will always remember the time I spent outside the classroom at sporting events and other activities with people I met at Serra. My best memories at Serra all come from when I was on the field or spending time with classmates on the weekends,” Andrew said.
Andrew played baseball all four years, football as freshman and basketball as a freshman and sophomore. He was active in student government as well, serving as the class athletic commissioner his junior and senior year.
The blend of sports and extracurriculars are something Andrew is proud of because they highlight his ability to “take on leadership roles in both an academic and athletic setting.”
Andrew will head to Indiana University in the fall, where he plans to study business. His time at Serra will serve him well at Indiana, as he said his high school years helped him to understand the importance of perseverance and taking full advantage of the opportunities presented to him.
“During my time at Serra I have learned how to balance my life through managing sports and school, and I think this will serve me well in my future endeavours.”
In the next decade, Andrew hopes he will be “somehow involved in the sports world and pursuing a career in management.”
The backing his family provided for him has been something Andrew is so grateful for.
“I want to say thank you to my family for giving me opportunities to pursue what I love and encouraging me throughout the entire process,” he said. “My time spent at Serra is something I will cherish forever because of my teammates and classmates who made it such an unforgettable experience. I am grateful for all the teachers and experiences I have had at Serra, as I know these past four years have set me up for future success.”
We know you will continue to thrive, Andrew! All the best in your future at Indiana!
