Brando Savarese said his largest personal leaps have been at Serra High School.
“Serra has helped me transition from a boy to a man,” he said.
He remembers freshman year, he never worked out or lifted weights. Four years later, he is a man who takes his fitness seriously, pushing himself to the limits for success. He has a great education to match.
Brando played water polo and lacrosse at Serra, making the varsity lacrosse team as a sophomore and varsity water polo as a junior. He was a member of the block society club and ultimate frisbee club. A member of Encounter, Brando led Kairos 27 as a host and gave the speech, "Turning to God in times of conflict."
His favorite quote is by George S. Patton, “By perserverence, study, and eternal desire, any man can become great."
Brando will head to University of Colorado at Boulder this fall, where he hopes to study finance. He’ll pack with him one of his favorite Serra memories, which is “SI blowing a 20-point lead and the Padres winning 48-44.”
To his supportive mom, he said, “I love you more than words can describe. You made so many risks for investing in my well-being and have always been supportive when I needed it the most,” Brando said. “You never fail to make me smile, laugh, and surprise me. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be who I am today. I can't thank you enough for giving me your all. I love you and will miss you so much these next four years.”
All the best at Boulder, Brando! Congratulations!
