Jackson Lataimua was an irreplaceable cog in the Padre football machine which fought its way to the 2019 WCAL, CCS and Nor-CAL championships. The running back/defensive back and team co-captain earned WCAL Co-Defensive Back-of-the-Year honors as well as First Team All-WCAL recognition.
Highly respected by teammates, opponents and all who watched him play for his selfless play and determination, Jackson stood out for his contributions on both sides of the ball. His talents as a football player surfaced early as during his sophomore year he was moved up to play for the varsity squad and was part of the 2017 State Championship team. As a freshman and sophomore Lataimua also participated in track.
Jackson will head to Washington State University in the fall, where he has committed to play football, and in the next decade, he hopes to be playing pro football for the Tennessee Titans.
“My greatest accomplishment to date is receiving my first scholarship offer to play football for a Division 1 football program. I was lucky enough to rack up a few,” he said.
Jackson’s favorite Serra tradition is Poly Day and if he had to recall a favorite high school memory, he said, “I will always remember the 2019 summer football workouts and our road to glory.”
Jackson holds his Padre values dear to him.
“Serra has constantly engrained the true meaning of brotherhood into my life,” he said. “This school has helped me develop my lifestyle and relationship with God, family and friends. Here at this school, I was reminded of some character traits a man should have and develop.”
Mr Taylor has been another instrumental force in Jackson’s growth as a man. “He taught me to embrace humility but be the true beast I am on the field. He reminded me of my cause and why to work so hard in everything I do. He reminded me of how brave I am.”
To his parents Jackson is grateful for their guidance on his journey in life.
“Thank you both for all the endless love and support you both gave to me. I wish I could repay you both instantly but that’s going to take some time. Thank you both for always pushing me to be the best version of myself. I just want both of y’all to lay back and watch your sunrise, sit back and know your sunset.”
We can’t wait to see what’s in store for you, Jackson! Congratulations on your countless achievements and we look forward to seeing many more!
