At Serra, our parents play a vital role in shaping the Padre experience. By volunteering your time and talents—whether cheering on our athletes, welcoming prospective families, supporting campus ministry or lending a hand at special events—you help make Serra feel like home. Volunteering is a meaningful way to stay connected to your son’s journey, meet other families and model the spirit of service we hope to instill in every Padre. Together, we create the welcoming, spirited community that makes Serra so special.

There are many ways to get involved at Serra.

Together we care for every Padre. As part of this shared commitment, some volunteer opportunities will require parent volunteers to complete fingerprinting and the Virtus training course before serving; this requirement is limited to events that require direct supervision of the students.

Step 1: Choose how you'd like to volunteer

Explore Serra's volunteer opportunities and identify the events or activities where you'd like to help. From welcoming families and supporting special events to assisting with athletics, student activities and community programs, there are many ways to get involved.

Step 2: Check the requirements for your volunteer role

It's Time to Sign UP

Go to Volunteer Opportunities Sign Ups. Click on the "Sign Up" button located next to the event date and the role you would like to volunteer for. Enter your name and email information and submit. It's that easy!

Below are helpful tips to navigate the platform:

Desktop Version: Events are grouped into tabs. Review each tab to explore opportunities and select the events where you’d like to volunteer.
Mobile Version: Return to Step 1 and use the scroll bar to find the type of event you’d like to volunteer for. Click on the event type to view available opportunities and sign up.

All volunteers are required to be fingerprinted. This step must be completed three weeks prior to your first volunteer event.

Serra offers LiveScan fingerprinting several times in the beginning of the school year.
Download and complete the Live Scan form.
Bring the Live Scan form to a UPS Store.
- Locate a UPS Store that offers Live Scan fingerprinting. You will need to pay out of pocket. If you wish to be reimbursed for fingerprinting services, please email a copy of your completed Live Scan form and full receipt from UPS here.

Step 7: Complete Virtus training

Can I go to any UPS Store for fingerprinting?

What if I have completed Virtus or fingerprinting for one of Serra's sister schools?

Do I need to create another Virtus account if I have already set one up for another school in the San Francisco Archidocese?

No. If you have already volunteered and completed these requirements at another Archdiocese of San Francisco school, please log in to your Virtus account and add “Junípero Serra High School” as a preferred volunteer location. This will allow Serra to view your account and confirm that everything is up to date.

If you are unsure whether your previous school is part of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, please check the Archdiocese’s list of schools to verify.
