Middle School Enrichment Program
Middle school enrichment programs are open to rising 6th-9th grade boys and girls. These courses are designed to pique curiosity, introduce students to fun, inspiring topics and engage them in hands-on group projects and activities.
Creative teachers from Serra's network, who have a passion for learning and doing, will lead these unique programs. Each course is a half day (morning or afternoon), but two courses can be combined together to become a full day experience. A variety of lunch options are also available.
registration and cancellation policy
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The last day to withdraw from the program and get a refund, less a $100 cancellation fee, is one week before it starts. No refunds will be given for programs canceled less than one week before it starts.

Ready to build your own universe and bring it to life through storytelling? This camp is all about unleashing creativity while learning the art of world-building to craft unforgettable stories. Whether inspired by the elemental magic of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the epic space battles of Star Wars, the wizarding world of Harry Potter, or the heroic adventures of the Marvel universe, campers will invent their own unique worlds, characters and exciting plots.
Throughout the camp, students will dive deep into the techniques behind world-building - designing cultures, magical systems, landscapes and histories - and learn how to make their universe feel real and captivating. They will also develop essential writing skills such as creating dynamic characters, weaving engaging plots, and using descriptive language to bring their stories to life.
Beyond the fun of inventing new worlds, this camp provides valuable learning opportunities to develop storytelling as a powerful tool for critical thinking and problem-solving. By building intricate plots and exploring the “what-ifs” of their imagined worlds, campers will enhance their ability to think creatively, analyze situations and solve complex problems.
By the end of camp, each student will have written their own short story, as well as gained a deeper understanding of how storytelling fosters communication and imagination. Whether students dream of writing novels, designing video games, or becoming screenwriters, this camp will provide them with the tools to explore endless possibilities and become confident, imaginative storytellers.

Sam Williams is a dynamic English teacher, creative writer, and journalist with a passion for igniting creativity in young minds. With a background in fiction writing, sports journalism, and pop culture, Mr. Williams brings a unique perspective to the camp, guiding campers to create imaginative worlds inspired by the epic adventures of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and the Marvel universe.
Through a blend of hands-on activities, group challenges, and creative exploration, Mr. Williams will teach campers the essential techniques of world-building—from designing magical systems and cultures to developing complex characters and plots. Step into the courtroom this summer at Camp Courtroom, a dynamic camp where middle school students can explore the world of law and courtroom drama! Through hands-on practice, campers will learn the basics of trial procedure, develop their public speaking skills, and work as part of a team to present cases in mock trials. Whether playing the role of an attorney or a witness, students will gain confidence in critical thinking, argumentation, and persuasive speaking, all while having fun with their peers.

Dr. Christopher Buckels, the Chair of Serra's Theology Department and coach of Serra's Mock Trial team, brings his expertise and passion for critical thinking to the Mock Trial Summer Camp. With a commitment to fostering intellectual growth and public speaking skills, Dr. Buckels guides campers through the exciting world of courtroom simulations. Participants learn the fundamentals of legal proceedings, argumentation, and teamwork as they prepare and present their cases. Drawing on his extensive experience mentoring students, Dr. Buckels creates an engaging and supportive environment where campers develop confidence, analytical skills, and an introduction to justice and advocacy.

Embark on an epic adventure through ancient myths at Camp Mythos, a summer camp for middle school students inspired by the world of Percy Jackson! Step into the stories of Greek gods, heroes and legendary creatures by bringing these ancient myths to life.
Throughout the week, campers will engage with the myths featured in the Percy Jackson series like Arachne, Theseus, Perseus and the Gorgons. They will act out dramatic moments, bringing larger-than-life characters and epic battles to the stage. Using these stories as a backdrop, campers can design and create their own historical artifacts, like shields, pottery and “enchanted” weapons, inspired by the gods themselves. Whether they’re battling monsters or retrieving sacred artifacts, they’ll need to use their creativity and problem-solving skills to succeed.
Greek mythology is a rich source of inspiration for artists, writers and musicians. From dramatic battles to tragic love stories, these myths investigate timeless themes like love, loss, ambition, jealousy and the struggle between good and evil—universal experiences that resonate across cultures and time periods.

Who doesn't love food? It's fun to make, it's fun to eat, it's fun to . . . study? There is a lot of science that goes into making the everyday foods that you love. Explore the fascinating chemistry behind your favorite foods. Campers will experiment with ingredients, discover how heat, acids, and enzymes work together in cooking, and even create their own culinary masterpieces. Through fun, interactive lessons and experiments, students will gain a deeper understanding of both science and the art of cooking-while enjoying plenty of tasty treats along the way!

Chase Mock, a dynamic and innovative chemistry teacher, brings science to life as the leader of the Chemistry Concoctions Summer Camp. Known for his energetic teaching style and ability to turn everyday materials into exciting scientific discoveries, Mr. Mock inspires campers to explore the wonders of chemistry in a fun and safe environment. ENRICHMENT CLASS FOR RISING SERRA FRESHMEN ONLY
During the Summer Service Week, incoming Serra students will experience the joy of serving those in need and making a positive impact on their community. Students will participate in a variety of volunteer service opportunities, from helping at local food banks and social service agencies to organizing clean-up projects and supporting senior citizens. Through hands-on projects and team-building activities, students will develop empathy, leadership skills and a sense of social responsibility. There will be service opportunities on June 19. Monday and Tuesday will be on campus from 8:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m. There will be off-campus service opportunities on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Times may vary.

Please note while campers are welcome to sign up for one week at a time, the camp is designed to be a cumulative three-week program. Each week will cover progressive concepts, and there will be a mini-competition at the end of the three weeks.
