With your help, we can make a young man's dream of a Serra education come true!

Dear Serra Supporters,

Each year since 2005, our Fund a Dream Scholarship Benefit has helped raise the additional funds necessary to ensure that all qualified applicants who dream of becoming a Serra Padre are afforded that opportunity. Since its inception, Serra's Fund a Dream event has raised more than $6 million.

Fund a Dream is a dynamic event that unites Serra’s alumni, current and past parents and friends of Serra to celebrate the school’s proud history and exciting future. This dinner social event is a fun-filled evening where keynote speakers have captivated the community with stories about their high school days, career highlights and philanthropic endeavors.

All proceeds from FUND A DREAM, generated by donations, cash gifts and TABLE SPONSORSHIPS, DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE Tuition Assistance Program.

Keynote Speaker
San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Kevin Dunleavy '80

We are excited to welcome Dunleavy as our Keynote Speaker for the 2023 Fund a Dream. Judge Dunleavy was appointed to the bench in July of 2021 by Gov. Gavin Newsom to serve as Judge of the Superior Court of the state of California. He filled a vacancy when Judge Clifford Cretan retired.

Dunleavy earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1988. Since then, he has had a successful career with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for 33 years.
Dunleavy served as Chief Assistant District Attorney and previously held the position of Senior Deputy District Attorney, serving as the Director of Recruitment and Development in the hiring and training of new lawyers. The first part of Dunleavy’s career focused on trial work, including multiple tours of trying homicides and serious felonies.

Sgt. Phoenix O'Rourke '07

San Mateo Police Sgt. Phoenix O’Rourke ‘07 believes that the values derived from his four years at Serra have been fundamental to his growth as a man, a father and a police sergeant. His confidence, empathy and passion to serve his community were developed during his high school years at Serra. The opportunity to attend Serra had the power to determine the direction of his life.

Steve Petelo '97

Steve Petelo '97 said that his high school days were the most transformational years of his life. Learning to take risks and navigate life's ups and downs with the mentors, coaches and role models he was surrounding by at Serra propelled him to reach higher and accomplish more. Now with his doctorate, Petelo helps young men to embrace college and ditch delinquency.

Marquise Jones '08

Sacramento Firefighter Marquise Jones '08 believes that the community service he completed as a Serra High School student paved the way for him to dedicate his life to serving others. The life skills he learned as an adolescent at Serra helped to shape him into the man he is today -- a fierce leader on the front lines, ready to save lives and keep people safe.

Creighton Felise '15

Serra’s tuition assistance program helped Creighton Felise ‘15 attend Serra High School -- an opportunity he said changed the direction of his life. The consistent mentoring, community service and leadership Creighton experienced at Serra propelled him to seek a life of service, prompting him to join the ARMY. SGT Felise was the second squad leader for the First Platoon in Attack Company, 5th Battalion 20th Infantry Regiment. He thanks Serra for providing him with the resources to lead the way.
