important message about
fund a dream 2020

Dear Serra Families,
After careful consideration and thorough consultation with the San Mateo County Public Health Department, the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and members of our administration team, we have determined that it is in the best interest of our community to not gather for this Saturday's Fund a Dream Scholarship Benefit.

We do this with sincere regret and out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our revered attendees and the community at large. We will continue to pray for those that are impacted by the COVID-19/ Coronavirus health crisis.

While we won't gather in person, we can still come together in support of Padres who aspire to a Serra education. Fund a Dream is more than a fundraiser, it is an opportunity for the community to gather and tell the story of the transformative impact of a Serra education.

We can still tell that story and make it possible for so many boys who aspire to be truly good men. Your generosity helps more than 35 percent of our students access the dream of a Serra education - inspiring teachers, dynamic learning, artistic expression, athletic competition - all in the context of a community enlivened by faith. Our students would not be able to experience the transformative experience of Serra without you.

So, please, stay tuned!  We will be following up in the next few days with our plans to transition our Fund a Dream community gathering into something that will allow us to achieve the financial goals necessary to support the Padres.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. While we gather in a different way this year, we look forward to greeting you in person in 2021.

Please reach out to any guests you may have invited that may not otherwise see this correspondence.  Do not hesitate to reach out with questions, and we will be communicating soon.

History of Fund a Dream

In 2005, we established our Fund a Dream Scholarship Benefit to raise the additional funds necessary to ensure that all qualified applicants who dream of becoming a Serra Padre are afforded that opportunity.

To date, this event has provided more than $5 million in support of its financial aid program. We invite you to help make a young man’s dream come true by supporting our Financial Aid Program. Together, we will continue Serra’s mission for future generations.
